Tao Condos

by Kirby Chan, Broker

Completed in 2016 by SigNature Tao Inc., this condominium has 7 storeys and is home to 170 units ranging from 400 to 2000 square feet, giving quite a selection of homes and layouts to choose from if you are looking to move into the area. Tao condos charge its residents a maintenance fee of $0.72 per square foot of the property, which is considerably lower than what average neighbourhoods would charge you. Maintenance fees cover air conditioning, heat system, parking, building insurance, and water.

Location

    The building is located at 8763 Bayview Avenue in Richmond Hill just near the intersection of Highway 7. This address was originally occupied by the George Quantz house, which was repurposed as a commercial space. SigNature Communities managed to preserve this heritage building by relocating it to the north end of the condominium.

The neighbourhood of Tao Condos lets you enjoy the different benefits of living in an urbanized community while remaining in a peaceful environment that you just cannot get from living in most cities. The area is surrounded by various necessities such as restaurants and cafes that serve a wide range of food, nearby grocery stores and markets, and a number of local banks for your convenience. The area also has parks and cinemas that are just a walking distance from the building for you to enjoy quality time with friends, family, and loved ones. Planning to move in with the kids? Zen Garden

    The building’s zen garden was designed to reflect an environment of calm and peace. Designed by landscape architect, Mike Dartitzio from Stantec Inc., the garden includes:

ornamental grass that gives a monotone colour to the area;

large stones that represent mountains and time;

and a boardwalk made out of timber that brings you from one side of the building to the other.

    The main objective in creating this zen garden is to enhance the tranquility of Tao. The zen garden generally reflects peace and relaxation. The building also features an interior that was designed to give a welcoming vibe to residents that would make you feel right at home just by entering the lobby.

Building Design

    The whole building’s architecture was inspired by the site itself which architect Garazia claims to have an active and passive side. The condominium is made with a series of frames that lets you appreciate the view from both sides. Garazia’s approach to designing the building was to try and understand the site and its surroundings. The goal was to make people feel a sense of tranquility the moment they get home which was achieved through a combination of brick and natural stones. The overall design emphasizes modernity and comfort.

Interior Design

    Interior designers, Nino Francavilla and Enza Checchia, designed the interior of the building in a way that generates a flow of energy. They wanted to create a space where people can let their hair down and be comfortable. The spaces are kept simple with details of textures, colours, and layering to establish harmony and tranquility. The designers made sure to keep the design in relationship with the five elements and its surrounding environment.

Building Development

SigNature Communities’ Vice President, Sebastian Mizzi, developed Tao Condos for you to still have access to what Richmond Hill has to offer in a less congested community. The company, SigNature, strongly believed in bringing the elements together to bring in the site’s environment and keep the building close to nature.

Speaking of elements, Tao Condos received consultation from Feng Shui expert, Paul Ng, in designing the whole building. The structure was created in the shape of a wing to hold energy that was coming in and not let it escape. The lobby reflects nature in miniature waterfalls and gardens that makes it relaxing to be in. Paul Ng examined each unit to make sure the design is in tune with nature to let people live in harmony, good relationships, and good money. All amenities and features of the Tao building were calculated and positioned properly to emulate positive energy. Paul Ng’s goal was to create a space of peace and calm in this world full of “crazy”, as he described it.
